Swim Lessons will return in MAY 2024
Registration will begin April 2024
Welcome to the Woodhaven-Brownstown Swim program. We are pleased that you have selected our program for your family. All of our swim classes are taught by highly trained and/or certified water safety instructors. We use the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program to provide the highest quality instruction. Our primary goal is to teach all participants to swim to the best of their ability in a safe, fun and friendly environment.
Location-Woodhaven-Brownstown High School Pool
Lessons held on Monday/Wednesday each week.
Session 2 October 2nd-26th ------Registration for session 2 begins Tuesday, September 26.
*You must have passed previous Red Cross level to move up. Present Red Cross level card to sign up for levels 2-5.
PARENT-CHILD AQUATICS 5:00 PM
American Red Cross Parent-Tot Aquatics familiarizes young children to the water and prepares them to learn to swim. This course gives parents safety information and teaches techniques to help orient their children to water.
LEVEL 1 - INTRO TO WATER SKILLS 5:30 PM
The student will continue to gain comfort in the water and will learn water safety.
LEVEL 2 - AQUATIC SKILLS 6:00 PM
The student will move towards solidifying fundamental water skills to become a competent swimmer..
LEVEL 3 - STROKE DEVELOPMENT 6:30 PM
Builds on skills learned in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice.
LEVEL 4 - STROKE IMPROVEMENT 7:00 PM
Objective is to build confidence in the strokes learned in previous levels and to improve other aquatic skills. By the end of Level 4, the student will have been introduced to all strokes and will work toward mastery of front and back crawl.
LEVEL 5 - STROKE REFINEMENT 7:30 PM
Deep water lessons
-Front & back crawl for 100 yards -Breaststroke & sidestroke for 50 yards
-Elementary backstroke for 75 yards -Racing starts and flip turns for all strokes
-Also preparation to join a swim club/ team and stroke technique drills.
